Location
We have two different locations; one for flashbacks, the other for the rest.
The flashbacks will be filmed at Christchurch Mansion, this is a perfect location as it is a popular place to hold weddings, just like in the flashbacks. We will be filming many shots in the 'Wedding Room', this is the room in which weddings are usually held, there are plenty of seats for the guests, flowers on the table and an aisle for the bride to walk down. Also we shall film outside the mansion and there are some beautiful spiral stairs inside. We have booked the room so there won't be anyone disturbing us, or any background noises we don't want.
The second location is going to be my bedroom, it's a girls bedroom so i have a large dressing table and mirror. We will also decorate the table with my jewellery, makeup, a wedding photo, perfume, a Tiffany lamp and old fashioned candles and boxes, to give the audience the feel of being in the characters room. There is a large window next to the table with blinds, so we could use shadows from them. However, we may have to cover them so we can use the lights we have to control how we do shadows and basic lighting effects.
Costumes
There are only two characters in our piece;
the bride in the flashbacks will be wearing an ivory wedding dress we found in a local charity shop, and to keep the look bohemian and contemporary, she will be wearing leggings and pixie books. We've also cut the dress short and decorated it. Also as she will be playing the femme fatale, we thought she should wear a wig to cover her short blonde hair, she'll be wearing long black wig, styled into a beehive, this look was seen throughout the 1950s and 1960s, yet it is fashionable now as well so i believe this will appeal to our audience.
In the 'real time' scenes, she shall be wearing a jet black satin dress with gold jewellery, so she shall look rich and classy, her hair will be done once again in a beehive, however it will be slightly disheveled to show she has been drinking, and is scruffy, given up on her appearance.
The husband only appears in the flashbacks, he will be wearing a wedding suit and shoes, a white shirt with black trousers and a crimson tie, to match the colour theme throughout (red tie, red wine, red lipstick).
We will also have two gold rings for wedding rings.
Lighting
We are going to try and make the film look as realistic as possible, so in the flashbacks we will be filming with natural daylight from outside. We are also going to edit the flashbacks to make them lighter and brighter yet in black and white so they look like she is remembering happier times. The 'real time' shots will be dull and dingy,so it looks late at night/early morning and to make the atmosphere seem depressed as as if the character is grieving.
Performance
In the flashbacks the couple are getting married, so they must look excited, happy, in love and pleased to be together, as the two actors are currently dating this should be easy to perform! They will show affection through holding hands and small kisses to the face and other improvised ways, nothing obvious and over the top.
In the other scenes, the femme fatale should look drunk, untidy,lost and upset. She will be downing red wine straight from the bottle, this will make her look desperate, downing her sorrows. Her makeup will be ruined, all down her face from crying, she will still be weeping in the sequence. In the end scenes, she will look as though she has just heard something and is shaken by it, looking scared and anxious.
